On November 15, 2021, the Minister of Energy requested that the OEB collaborate with the Independent Electricity System Operator to develop a plan to design and implement a dynamic electricity pricing pilot to assess the benefits for Class B consumers that are not eligible for Regulated Price Plan prices. Such consumers include mid-size commercial and light industrial businesses.
This initiative was originally envisioned to proceed as a pilot program, but no applications were received. The OEB is instead taking a consultation-based and research-driven approach that will result in a price design report for the Ministry of Energy and Electrification.
