These awards showcase OEB Connects, an internal communications town hall initiative that has helped to drive OEB modernization from the inside out, and our LinkedIn growth strategy which, through carefully targeted content, has successfully helped to enhance brand reliability, trust, and transparency within the energy sector, while positioning the OEB as not only a sector leader but employer of choice as well.
“These Silver Leaf Awards demonstrate how the OEB, through thoughtful and meaningful approaches to communication, is advancing on its modernization journey and evolution toward becoming a top quartile regulator,” said OEB CEO Susanna Zagar. “I want to congratulate the Public Affairs team on this notable accomplishment, for which they and the organization as a whole should be immensely proud.”
As part of a more comprehensive and robust internal communications strategy, OEB Connects was created to support a modern and effective governance structure and enable development of a meaningful and engaged corporate culture. Recognition of this initiative is an acknowledgement of the success OEB Connects has had in providing executives and people leaders with a direct line of communication to employees, and employees with an open, transparent and safe forum where they can learn more about what matters most to them and where questions and answers can be exchanged through thoughtful dialogue.
Meanwhile, trust in our work is essential to our effectiveness as a regulator. The OEB’s LinkedIn growth strategy was (and remains) a response to the need for enhanced, open and transparent communication with both consumers and industry stakeholders. Recognition of this strategy reflects the success of our Public Affairs team in surpassing its goal of growing followership to 10,000, largely through organic tactics. Through these efforts, LinkedIn has become an important and growing communications channel that helps to effectively tell the OEB’s modernization story, promotes its role as a trusted leader within the energy sector, and positions diversity, equity and inclusion as a necessary component of meaningful organizational transformation.
