The OEB initiated a consultation related to proposed amendments to the Distribution System Code, the Electricity Retailer Code of Conduct, and the Retail Settlement Code to facilitate regulatory changes to net metering and retailing that took effect July 1, 2022.

The regulatory changes expanded access to net metering, which allows customers to generate electricity on their property for their own use while sending excess power to the grid for a credit on their bill.
