Enbridge Gas Inc. has applied for approval to construct approximately 1,615 metres of natural gas pipelines and related assets to accommodate the construction of the Ontario Line Subway Transit Project, which is a collaboration between the Province of Ontario, the City of Toronto, and Metrolinx. The proposed 1,615 meters of pipeline consists of 1,100 metres of nominal pipe size (NPS) 8-inch polyethylene (PE) intermediate pressure (IP) natural gas pipeline; 120 metres of NPS 2-inch PE IP natural gas pipeline; 35 metres of NPS 6-inch PE IP natural gas pipeline; and 360 metres of NPS 4-inch PE IP natural gas pipeline. Enbridge Gas Inc. also proposes to construct two new pressure regulation stations (one header station and one district station). Enbridge Gas Inc. has also applied for approval of the forms of agreements it will offer to landowners affected by the routing or location of the proposed pipelines.Enbridge Gas Inc. states that relocation and construction of the natural gas pipelines and related assets is required to eliminate conflicts with the subway construction while maintaining the provision of safe and reliable service to existing Enbridge Gas Inc. customers. Enbridge Gas Inc. states that Metrolinx will pay for the relocation and construction of the proposed pipelines and that it will have no cost impact on existing ratepayers.
The location of the proposed pipelines is shown in the map.
