OEB and Indspire Announce New Indigenous Scholarship

The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) is pleased to announce that we have partnered with Indspire, a national charity dedicated to investing in the education of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples, to establish and administer the OEB Indigenous Scholarship.

Each year, two $7,000 scholarships will be awarded to students who are enrolled in Ontario post-secondary education and pursuing studies relevant to careers in the energy sector. Recipients will also have opportunities to participate in discussion groups, interact with OEB staff and apply for paid work terms at the OEB.

“At the OEB, we demonstrate our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) through initiatives aimed at elevating the voices, visibility, and opportunities of underrepresented groups within the OEB and the broader energy sector. With Indspire we share the common belief that access to education and mentorship are crucial pillars for enhancing the representation of Indigenous peoples within the energy sector."

- Harneet Panesar, Chief Operating Officer

Deadline for applications, which are now being accepted for the OEB’s inaugural offering in the Fall of 2024, is August 1, 2024.
