The Ontario Energy Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Amir Shalaby to the Market Surveillance Panel.

Toronto –Today, the Ontario Energy Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Amir Shalaby to the Market Surveillance Panel (MSP).

Over his 30-year career in Ontario’s electricity industry, Mr. Shalaby has accumulated extensive expertise in power system operations, power system planning, and regulatory affairs while working for the former Ontario Hydro, the Independent Electricity System Operator and most recently the former Ontario Power Authority. Mr. Shalaby’s engineering background is also a valuable complement to the expertise and experience that already resides within the MSP.

The MSP monitors the province’s wholesale electricity markets to identify inappropriate or irregular activities that can have a negative impact on market efficiency or effective competition. The MSP may also identify actual or potential flaws and inefficiencies in the market rules or the design of the markets.

The MSP reports on its activities and, where appropriate, investigates the conduct of market participants.
