The OEB has released an updated variance settlement factor that is to be used by electricity distributors to calculate a one-time credit or charge for consumers who choose to stop purchasing electricity through the Regulated Price Plan. This factor is called the "Final RPP Variance Settlement Factor" and is updated on the OEB website monthly.

The OEB is inviting written comments on a revised proposal for its Electric Vehicle Charging Rate (EVC Rate), which aims to further facilitate the integration of EV charging stations with the electricity system. Comments are due January 31, 2025.

The OEB has posted a Directive from the Minister of Energy and Electrification regarding the development of a new transmission line in Northeastern Ontario and a related Order in Council regarding the priority status of the project.

The OEB has issued the final Notice of Amendments to the Distribution System Code. These amendments are intended to facilitate the connection of housing developments by extending the connection horizon to a maximum of 15 years for qualifying housing developments and extending the revenue horizon to 40 years for all residential customers. The extensions are applicable to the connections of Qualifying Housing Developments and residential customers for which an initial offer to connect had not been accepted by the developer or customer on or before November 18, 2024. These amendments come into force today to enable early implementation by distributors that are able to do so. Compliance with the new provisions is mandatory for all distributors starting March 3, 2025.

The OEB has issued a draft version of the Vulnerability Assessment (VA) Report as a part of its Vulnerability Assessment and System Hardening (VASH) initiative, along with the VA Toolkit, a resource designed to assist distributors in preparation of VA analyses. Stakeholders are invited to provide written feedback on the VA Report and VA Toolkit by January 23, 2025.

The OEB has issued a Notice of Proposal to amend the Distribution System Code. The proposed amendments establish minimum requirements for licensed electricity distributors in communicating with customers when there are widespread power interruptions in a distributor’s service area caused by severe weather. The purpose of these requirements is to provide customers with timely information to help them prepare for and stay safe during extended electrical service interruptions. The OEB invites stakeholders to provide feedback on the proposal by January 17, 2025.
