Data Inventory

Ontario's Digital and Data Directive ensures the delivery of high-quality digital services and access to public government data, unless it is exempt for legal, privacy, security, confidentiality or commercially-sensitive reasons. The directive sets out key principles and requirements for the design of digital services and the sharing of open government data assets.

Lists the active applications before the OEB. Provides details on energy type (gas or electricity), applicant's name, and application type.

Update Frequency: Daily

Lists the current rates charged by electricity distributors to general service < 50 kW customers.

Update Frequency: Monthly

Lists the current rates charged by electricity distributors to residential customers.

Update Frequency: Monthly

Lists the current rates charged by natural gas distributors to residential customers.

Update Frequency: Quarterly

Contains the location data for electricity and natural gas distributors’ service areas that can be used in geographic information systems (GIS) applications.

Update Frequency: As Needed

Lists the historical distribution rates charged by electricity distributors for all rate classes, beginning in 2006. Each year, electricity distributors apply to the OEB requesting changes to their distribution rates.

Total number of complaints against electricity distributors received by the OEB from January 1 to December 31 of each year, beginning in 2013. Complaints made directly to the distributor are not reported here.

The electricity distributor scorecards measure how well Ontario's electricity distributors are performing each year. It is designed to encourage electricity distributors to operate effectively, continually seek ways to improve productivity, and focus on improvements that their customers value.

Provides data related to a distributor’s response to outages caused by Major Events. The data in this section is unadjusted for distributor mergers. The majority of the data in this section is collected in textual format. Note that the start year for this data file is 2015.

Provides data related to the distributor’s labour (i.e., the number of full-time equivalent employees, the average number of employees and the total salaries and wages of those employees whose earnings are charged to current operating expenses and to new construction). Note that the start year for this data file is 2015.

Provides data related to the distributor’s total and high voltage capital assets (gross additions, write offs, contributed capital,  capital expenditures, other changes) including expenditure breakdown between labour and materials. Note that the start year for this data file is 2015.

Provides data related to the total amount of electricity in kWh that has flowed into the distribution system (from the IESO-controlled grid, the distribution system of a host distributor, and all embedded generation facilities) and the dollar amount charged by any host distributor for transmission or low voltage services. Note that the start year for this data file is 2015.

Update Frequency: Annually

Provides data related to a distributor’s annual billings and energy- related determinants (i.e., total consumption (kWh) and demand (kW)) for customers and connections broken down by generic rate class. Note that the start year for this data file is 2015.

Provides data regarding a distributor’s licensed service area (both rural and urban), maximum monthly peak load (summer and winter peak load with and without embedded generation), average peak load (with and without embedded generation), average load factor (with and without embedded generation), and overheard and underground circuit kilometers broken down by primary and secondary lines. Note that primary and secondary breakdown is only available after 2019. The other data points are available from 2015 onwards.

Provides data related to a distributor’s regulated return on equity (ROE). The ROE is calculated on the same basis as was used in establishing the distributor’s base rates. Note that the start year for this data file is 2015.
