Emad Elsayed
Emad Elsayed was appointed as a part-time Commissioner in June 2012. Dr. Elsayed has over 40 years of experience in the energy sector including several senior executive roles with Ontario Power Generation (OPG), Ontario’s largest electricity generator. These roles included managing OPG’s Hydroelectric Division, which is responsible for producing 25 per cent of Ontario’s electricity, successful management of many large, complex projects and leading an OPG team working with the Ontario government to explore options for Nuclear New Build. Dr. Elsayed’s experience included engineering and design, plant operations and maintenance, strategy development, risk management, stakeholder relations and environmental compliance. Dr. Elsayed also negotiated a number of successful partnership agreements with First Nations. On the volunteer side, Dr. Elsayed is the Chair of the Board of Directors of Halton’s Children’s Aid Society and a member of the Board of Directors of the John Howard Society of Hamilton, Burlington and Area. Dr. Elsayed holds a B.Sc. (Cairo University), M. Eng. (McMaster University), and Ph.D. (McMaster University) in Civil Engineering and is an active member of Professional Engineers Ontario.
