In a letter dated May 25, 2017, the OEB initiated a policy consultation to explore and better understand a number of matters related to implementing amendments to Ontario’s net metering regulation (O. Reg. 541/05). At the same time, the OEB issued a Notice of Amendment to a Code to ensure consistency with the regulation as amended. Both the Code amendment and regulation as amended came into force on July 1, 2017.

Based on information collected by staff, including from members of a Net Metering Working Group (see letter dated June 14, 2017),  the OEB modified its Reporting and Record Keeping Requirements to enhance data collection on net metered customers and facilities.

The OEB has selected a number of distributors and industry associations to be part of the Net Metering Working Group based on knowledge and experience with net metering.
