Order in Council No. 1540/2009 dated September 8, 2009, approved a Minister of Energy and Infrastructure’s Directive to the Board that effectively permits Enbridge and Union to own and operate, among others, certain renewable energy generation facilities, combined power and thermal energy generation facilities and energy storage facilities

The Board believed that revisions to the Affiliate Relationships Code for Gas Utilities and the Natural Gas Reporting & Record Keeping Requirements: Rule for Gas Utilities were warranted to keep pace with the fact that the utilities may own and operate qualifying facilities, and to support the Board’s objective of promoting the use and generation of electricity from renewable energy sources.
