David Sword

David Sword was appointed as a full-time Commissioner in June 2021. Mr. Sword brings to the OEB extensive public and private sector energy experience with a strong public policy background. With more than 15 years of government and external relations experience gained at senior levels with Union Gas, Spectra Energy and Vestas Wind Technology, Mr. Sword has worked closely with developers, government, regulatory, First Nations, NGOs, media and communities from coast-to-coast. The former Chair of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Sword also had an active energy consultancy firm focused on providing support to energy producers and transmission projects in achieving public and regulatory approvals prior to joining the OEB.
