The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Canada has recognized the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) with two Silver Leaf Awards of Merit, for our execution of innovative and effective communications strategies that have helped enable our modernization journey and evolution toward becoming a top-quartile regulator.

The OEB has accepted an Assurance of Voluntary Compliance from ERTH Power Corporation, an electricity distributor. The Assurance responds to non-compliance with its rate orders related to overcharging customers as a result of a billing system error.

The OEB has released an updated variance settlement factor that is to be used by electricity distributors to calculate a one-time credit or charge for consumers who choose to stop purchasing electricity through the Regulated Price Plan. This factor is called the "Final RPP Variance Settlement Factor" and is updated on the OEB website monthly.

The OEB has posted Price Comparison templates for Natural Gas Contracts for Utilities Kingston valid from November 1, 2022.

The OEB has issued a letter inviting stakeholder comments on a draft update to Chapter 4 of the OEB’s Filing Requirements for Electricity Transmission Applications.

The OEB is holding a stakeholder meeting on November 30, 2022, to continue discussions on further enhancement of Activity and Program-based Benchmarking (APB). The APB initiative is now located on the OEB’s digital engagement platform, Engage with Us. You are invited to register and complete a survey on the project page to help inform the OEB on other areas of APB that can be improved upon.

The Regional Planning Process Advisory Group (RPPAG) has provided its Load Forecast Guideline that was developed for electricity distributors, transmitters, and the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) to use to ensure greater consistency in preparing load forecasts, including consideration of the impact of electrification, for the purpose of regional planning across Ontario. Preparation of the Guideline is a result of a recommendation by the RPPAG. The OEB appreciates the work of the RPPAG and how the Guideline may support other regulatory processes.

The OEB has posted Price Comparison templates for Electricity Contracts valid from November 1, 2022 to April 30, 2023.

The OEB has posted Net Metering Price Comparison templates valid from November 1, 2022 to April 30, 2023.

The OEB is launching a consultation to engage stakeholders on the Reporting and Record-keeping Requirements (RRR) for Ontario's licensed electricity distributors. This consultation provides the OEB an opportunity to gather feedback from licensees and other interested stakeholders on ways in which the RRR can be streamlined to reduce regulatory burden and adapted to changes in the electricity sector.
