The OEB has set new electricity prices for households and small businesses for January 18 to February 7, 2022 further to recent regulatory amendments. During that time, all consumers on the Regulated Price Plan will pay a fixed price of 8.2 ¢/kWh for all the electricity they consume, regardless of the time of day or the total volume consumed.

To support Ontarians through the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the OEB is once again temporarily increasing the flexibility of the Low-income Energy Assistance Program-Emergency Financial Assistance (LEAP EFA). In addition, the maximum value of grants amounts has been increased.

The Province of Ontario has recently appointed Carole Malo to the OEB’s Board of Directors, joining Chair Richard Dicerni, and existing Board members Kurt Allen, Marika Hare, John Knubley, Gerald Moncrief, Glenn O’Farrell, Marie Oswald and Geoff Owen. With the addition of Ms Malo, the Board will continue its work to support the modernization of the OEB, to strengthen public trust and provide strong leadership and good governance.

The OEB has launched a new digital engagement platform, Engage with Us, that provides a centralized location for the OEB’s consultation projects and stakeholder advisory committees in a user-friendly environment.

The OEB has issued a Notice of Revised Proposal to Amend the Distribution System Code regarding connection of distributed energy resources (DERs) to local electricity distribution systems. The proposed amendments reflect stakeholder comments received on the proposed amendments that were issued on August 6, 2021, and are intended to improve connection timelines and provide clarity and consistency in the process for connecting a DER. Comments are due by January 21, 2022.

The Regional Planning Process Advisory Group (RPPAG) has provided its Report to the OEB which includes recommendations, for the OEB’s consideration, that are intended to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and transparency of the current regional planning process in Ontario. The RPPAG’s report is the first step in the OEB's Regional Planning Process Review (RPPR) consultation.

The OEB is extending the date for stakeholder written comments on the Reliability and Power Quality Review (RPQR) initiative identified in the OEB’s November 30, 2021, letter to January 14, 2022.

In keeping with steps we are taking to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of regulatory proceedings, the OEB initiated a consultation to review our Practice Direction on Confidential Filings. Today the OEB has posted a revised version as well as largely related revisions to the Rules of Practice and Procedure and the Rules of Practice and Procedure for Enforcement Proceedings.

The OEB has approved changes to the prices Enbridge and EPCOR will charge its customers for natural gas effective January 1, 2022.

The OEB has posted Price Comparison templates for Natural Gas Contracts for Enbridge and EPCOR valid from January 1 - March 31, 2022.
