The OEB has issued a letter providing information related to quarterly reporting that is intended to monitor implementation of Green Button by electricity and natural gas distributors.

To support the generation and adoption of new ideas and technologies within Ontario’s energy sector, the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) unveiled its Innovation Sandbox 2.0 today.

The OEB has issued a letter inviting interested parties to a stakeholder meeting on February 17, 2022, to seek input on the design of an optional enhanced Time-of-Use price plan.

The OEB has released an updated variance settlement factor that is to be used by electricity distributors to calculate a one-time credit or charge for consumers who choose to stop purchasing electricity through the Regulated Price Plan. This factor is called the "Final RPP Variance Settlement Factor" and is updated on the OEB website monthly.

The OEB has released Holding Utilities to Account – OEB Compliance and Enforcement Activity Report, which summarizes key compliance and enforcement highlights from April through September 2021.

The OEB has issued guidance to regulated entities on the implementation of the 8.2 ¢/kWh fixed price that will apply to consumers on the Regulated Price Plan for all electricity consumption from January 18 to February 7, 2022.

The OEB has set new electricity prices for households and small businesses for January 18 to February 7, 2022 further to recent regulatory amendments. During that time, all consumers on the Regulated Price Plan will pay a fixed price of 8.2 ¢/kWh for all the electricity they consume, regardless of the time of day or the total volume consumed.

To support Ontarians through the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the OEB is once again temporarily increasing the flexibility of the Low-income Energy Assistance Program-Emergency Financial Assistance (LEAP EFA). In addition, the maximum value of grants amounts has been increased.

The Province of Ontario has recently appointed Carole Malo to the OEB’s Board of Directors, joining Chair Richard Dicerni, and existing Board members Kurt Allen, Marika Hare, John Knubley, Gerald Moncrief, Glenn O’Farrell, Marie Oswald and Geoff Owen. With the addition of Ms Malo, the Board will continue its work to support the modernization of the OEB, to strengthen public trust and provide strong leadership and good governance.

The OEB has launched a new digital engagement platform, Engage with Us, that provides a centralized location for the OEB’s consultation projects and stakeholder advisory committees in a user-friendly environment.
