The OEB has accepted an Assurance of Voluntary Compliance from PUC Distribution Inc., a licensed electricity distributor, following an inspection into the company’s disconnection practices. The inspection found that PUC Distribution Inc. did not comply with certain regulatory requirements for disconnection. This reflects the OEB’s commitment to protecting consumers by ensuring that regulated companies fulfil all of their regulatory requirements prior to disconnecting a customer.
The OEB has released an updated variance settlement factor that is to be used by electricity distributors to calculate a one-time credit or charge for consumers who choose to stop purchasing electricity through the Regulated Price Plan. This factor is called the "Final RPP Variance Settlement Factor" and is updated on the OEB website monthly.
The OEB has accepted an Assurance of Voluntary Compliance from ONIT Energy Ltd., a licensed electricity retailer, following an inspection into the company’s sales practices. The inspection found that ONIT Energy Ltd. did not comply with certain regulatory requirements for energy retailing. This reflects the OEB’s commitment to protecting consumers by ensuring that regulated companies fulfil all of their regulatory requirements.
Effective immediately, the OEB is prohibiting electricity distributors from issuing disconnection notices to residential customers for the duration of the provincewide stay-at-home measures that took effect on April 8, 2021.
The OEB is posting the Activity and Program-based Benchmarking (APB) results of 10 programs published in a Pacific Economics Group report to the OEB following a request for data from electricity distributors. The OEB plans to host a stakeholder meeting on May 6, 2021 to discuss the initiative and the expected use of the APB results in the regulatory process.
